Chrysler 300 Letter Series: 1955 – 1965

The initial design of the 300 called for personal luxury cars. Chrysler focused on performance for this post-war series and evolved that performance through successive models gaining a new letter for each year – 300B, 300C, and so on. The Chrysler 300B was the first production car to top 355 horsepower, and was the most powerful car in America for years after.

Chrysler 300 Non-Letter Series: 1962 – 1971

In 1962, Chrysler entered the muscle car market with a luxury entry. 4-door hardtop and 4-door sedans were produced until 1964, and in 1965 a 440hp V8 was added along with a facelift. After a pause in production, 1969 added “fuselage styling”, a clean look that simplified the design aesthetic and persists as a production philosophy through today.

Chrysler 300M: 1999 – 2004

The Chrysler 300M was the modern reintroduction of the 300 brand, maintaining the luxury image with updated styling, front-wheel drive, and a slightly lower-powered engine with the 3.5L V6. New tech was integrated into the 300M: Safety features like supplemental side airbags and electronic brake distribution, and luxury features like updated audio systems and leather interiors.

The Modern Chrysler 300

For the renewal of the 300 brand, Chrysler brought back rear-wheel drive, reminding buyers of the 300’s muscle car past. The top-of-the-line 300C brought in a 5.7L Hemi engine and 390 lb-ft of torque. The 2011 redesign made the Chrysler 300 a 4-door sedan and entirely refurbished the exterior, and in 2015 a facelift added even more tech features like Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Departure Warning. The Chrysler 300 available today from Freedom Jeep Chrysler has a lot of features in common with this recent facelift, though it’s an even more advanced model.
